Presentation

Science communication is an important part of our job as scientists, and popular science offers opportunities for sharing scientific understanding with a wider audience. As a bonus, the process of writing can also lead to new insight and inspiration for our own research. In this talk, we will discuss some useful tools for writing texts that people will read and remember.

Speaker

Anja Røyne is a senior lecturer at the Department of Physics and at the Centre for Teaching and Learning in Science, both at UiO. She has written two popular science books and regularly gives popular science talks to a wide range of audiences. She also teaches the course MNKOM9010 - Communicating Science.

12:00 – "Popular Science - How to Share Your Science With a General Audience" by Anja Røyne (Senior Lecturer, Department of Physics, UiO)

This event is open for all PhD candidates and postdocs. No registration needed.

About the seminar series

Once a month, dScience will invite you to join us for lunch, soft drinks and professional talks at the Science Library. In addition to these, we will serve lunch to PhD candidates in our lounge in Kristine Bonnevies hus every Thursday. Due to limited space (40 people), this will be first come, first served. See how to find us here (download).

Our lounge can also be booked by PhDs and Postdocs on a regular basis, whether it is for a meeting or just to hang out – we have fresh coffee all day long! Read more about the seminar series here.
