Election platform

Dear voters, my temporary colleagues at UiO.

I am excited to run for election as the representative of temporarily employed scientific staff on UiO's board. As a temporary employee, I have encountered challenges similar to those faced by many of you, and I am committed to ensuring that our voices are heard, and our interests are represented.

UiO's overarching strategy towards 2030 aims to reduce temporary employment within the organization, a goal also highlighted in the 2020 strategic plan. I will work diligently to maintain the importance of this objective among other priorities.

Collaboration and a culture of sharing are vital aspects of any organization. Temporary employees often find it difficult to plan for the future and integrate into a professional community when their employment duration is uncertain. Building a solid professional environment that includes both permanent and temporary staff can be challenging when colleagues are unsure about each other's tenure. I believe in cultivating a common culture where knowledge and experience are shared openly, allowing everyone to benefit from each other's expertise. This approach positively impacts both research and teaching, and contributes to a more positive and engaging workplace.

As a representative of temporarily employed scientific staff on the university board, I will draw upon my experiences with systematic collegial competence enhancement at Fyrstikkalléen school in Oslo. My background in teamwork and sharing knowledge with colleagues will be a valuable asset in promoting a collaborative development within the organization.

I will strive to include temporarily employed scientific staff in long-term planning and ensure access to training and development opportunities, encompassing both professional growth and salary development. Together, we can establish a common culture centered on collaboration. Providing training in new tasks and offering steady support for new employees is crucial for maximizing productivity as soon as possible. Temporary employees, with our extensive experience in new positions, can serve as valuable resources for identifying potential improvements at UiO in this area.

About me

As a university lecturer in literacy at ILN since January 1, 2023, I teach subjects related to Norwegian as a second language and rhetoric and communication. I completed my teacher training at UiO and wrote a master's thesis in Nordic languages (2010).

Throughout my career, I have alternated between permanent positions in Oslo schools (2010-2021) and various temporary roles in higher education. These include foreign lecturer at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) in China (2012-2013), college lecturer at Høgskolen i Innlandet (2016-2017), university lecturer at OsloMet (2021-2022, 2022-2023), digital Oslo-based foreign lecturer at BFSU (2022), and my current two-year position at UiO.

Returning to UiO feels like coming home. My time here as a student has fostered a strong sense of belonging to the institution and Blindern. I am deeply committed to maintain a welcoming environment for both employees and students and aim to use this passion constructively by running for a position on the university board.
