Safety representative's role
The safety representative's role is to participate in the preparations for the ARK-survey within their own unit. This involves participating in discussions with the manager on how the survey can be used to develop the work environment in the desired direction.
The safety representative's role is to represent the perspectives of the employees, contribute to the different parts of the process, and ensure that the employer follows up on the measures. While the manager is responsible for the process, the safety representative should represent all employees in matters relating to the work environment.
Safety representative's tasks
The safety representative should participate in the planning of the survey meeting for all employees, where the results of the questionnaire are reviewed. Here, the safety representative should highlight aspects that the manager should be mindful of in order to interpret the results.
The safety representative should also participate in filling out the summary and evaluation form of the ARK-survey together with the unit manager. The task of the safety representative is to ensure that both the management's and the employees' perspectives are included.
The safety representative should also be involved in the follow-up work that is reported to cooperation-bodies such as LAMU and the HME-reporting.
If any issues arise before or after the survey or the survey meeting, it is the safety representative's role to approach the manager and ask about when:
- information will be provided
- the meeting will be held
- measures are planned to be implemented
It is important that the manager gains an understanding in the planning of how employees perceive the situation in the unit. This will contribute to a well-adapted meeting that addresses the unit's specific challenges, which in turn can improve further work on the work environment.
