Employment conditions

The University of Oslo has comprehensive and detailed web pages about employment conditions. On these pages you can find information about employee benefits, salary,  insurance, reporting secondary employment, and other relevant information.

Practical information

IT user account

As an employee at UiO, you will get an IT user account with a username and password, along with an email address.

More information about the IT user account can be found here.

Remember that all employees are required to regularly check their UiO email.

If you have any questions related to your IT user account at UiO, please contact the IT and AV support team at Klinmed.

Employee card and keys

If you are employed at UiO for more than three months, you should get an employee card.

Please find information about how to obtain your employee card here.

The administrative coordinator in your division or your manager can provide you with information on how to obtain keys or any other access cards you may need.

Personal presentation page

All employees with a contract longer than six months receive their own personal presentation page in Norwegian and English on the Institute's web page. The Institute's web editor creates the web page, which you then need to update with relevant information yourself.

HSE - Health, safety, and the environment

The Institute's HSE web pages provide important information about health, safety, and the environment at Klinmed. On these pages you can among others find information about the Institute's safety representatives.

Finding your way around the Institute and the University 

The Institute is spread across a number of locations and the University of Oslo has buildings in different parts of Oslo.

Registration of working hours, holidays and absence in the self-service portal

As a new employee, it is important that you familiarise yourself with the self-service portal. All employees need to register personal information, such as address, bank details, next of kin, and children, in the portal.

The self-service portal is where all employees must register and apply for holidays and shorter absences. Travel expenses and reimbursements are also managed in the portal.

Technical and administrative staff also register working hours.

Teaching

Are you going to teach at Klinmed?

Research support

The Faculty of Medicine has a good support system and procedures for researchers who want to apply for external funding.

Please find out how the External Research Funding Unit (EEG) can help you here.

The Institute also has its own research support team that can help you with: 

  • Application, budgeting, and reporting in collaboration with the Faculty and the Finance section
  • Quality assurance of contracts and agreements
  • Coordination of initial meetings

Open Access

All academic staff at UiO employed after 4 July 2013 have a duty to ensure their work is openly accessible, either through publishing in Open Access journals or through the UiO digital archive, DUO.

CRIStin

The Current Research Information System in Norway (CRIStin) is a national system for research documentation. Researchers and research communities in Norway must register and profile publication data, projects, entities, and competency profiles in CRIStin.

The system is also used for reporting publication points.

Research communication

Academic staff are encouraged to communicate their research to relevant audiences outside of academia, including new findings and topics of general interest.

Klinmed's communication advisors can assist with everything from writing popular science stories for UiOs website and other relevant channels to press releases, contact with the media, pitching your research project, and more.

Medical Photography and Illustration Service

The Medical Photography and Illustration Service at the Institute offers media services for medical research, education, and communication.

They can help you with photography, video and graphics. They also take photos for your personal presentation page.

Their studio is located at Rikshospitalet.
