Internal research support at the Department of Education (IPED)

General support

General support is automatically distributed (no application is needed) when you begin working at IPED and then once a year, every January.

This support applies to everyone, including assistant professors without a doctorate, and can be applied to all relevant research-related purposes.

The funds cannot be transferred at the end of the year.

The funds are currently as follows:

  • Equal basic amount for Doctoral Research Fellow: NOK. 10 000 
  • Equal basic amount for Postdoctoral Fellow: NOK. 7500
  • Equal basic amount for other academic staff: NOK. 5000

Language editing of extended abstract is covered by up to NOK. 16.000. 
You do not need to apply for this funding, but you must contact Elin Sørensen to get the right project number to be charged. 

Individual research support grant

Individual research support grant will be allocated upon application.

The purpose of the allocation of internal research funds is to strengthen research, publication and internationalization within the Department’s professional activities.

There is an application deadline twice a year, first round is in January and the second round is in May. Max 20 000 NOK each round.

The funds cannot be transferred at the end of the year.

All academic staff can apply for individual research support grant, except assistant professors without a doctorate. Emeritus can send in an application for one conference a year, depending on registered publications.

The scheme has the following application categories:

  • Conference participation with paper and publication plan.
  • Language editing, translation and other expenses related to publishing.

Strategic funds

The purpose of the fund is to strengthen IPED’s focus areas and strategic goals within research, teaching and knowledge in use.

Covered cost are, for example, linked to network building, project development, method development, piloting, Open Access, and other scientific activities.

Current investment areas (may change over time):

  • Learning in knowledge institutions 
  • Digitalization, learning and innovation
  • Upbringing 
  • Educational psychology
  • Democracy, activism and sustainability

Academic staff and postdocs can apply once a year, in January.
