The autumn semester is now well underway. Studies have really got going and research activity is booming. Fabulous work is also being done on the dissemination of knowledge at the faculty.

Health for Ukraine

Last Thursday, the Faculty of Medicine hosted an informative meeting on ‘Health for Ukraine’ in the Aula. It was a pleasure to welcome staff, students and guests in person or through participation via streaming.

We gathered key knowledge and expertise communities to share experiences and challenges in this work.

Interspersed with choir and accordion music from Ukraine, video recordings of refugees coming to Norway, strong appeals from the Rector, state secretary, member of parliament and representative from the Ukrainian Embassy, our researchers and experts gave a series of impressive presentations; about how mental health in both children and adults is affected by the war, what can be done to maintain good health services in Ukraine, about relief work in the war zone, about medical treatment of war injuries and about the rehabilitation of injured soldiers. Our panel then discussed what and how we can contribute further to this important work.

This was a seminar we will remember for a long time, and we hope and believe that this initiative will lead to further efforts for ‘Health for Ukraine’.

Research Festival at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology

The Research Days are arranged this week and the Faculty of Medicine is involved. On Thursday 21.9, Oslo schools will be flocking to the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology to meet our researchers who are participating in the Oslo Science Fair, and 1000 young people have registered.

This weekend, we are also arranging the Research Festival at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology for the whole family. Bring your family and friends! As an employee, you can get tickets that provide you and your guests with free admission to the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology on Saturday 23 September.

On Monday 25 September, 18:00 - 19:30, you can join our seminar that is part of the Research Days on Energy, Depression and Diet.

The Brain in the Centre

This autumn’s public events from the Faculty of Medicine with the theme The Brain in the Centre are also worth a visit.

The Medicine Blog is 5 years old - get writing help so people understand

Today, it is 5 years since the first post was published in the Medicine Blog. The blog has published posts based on the contributions of our researchers, which have been spread around the country.

YOU can also write about your subject or research in the Medicine Blog. The blog editorial team will help you achieve a good result. You will gain training and experience in popular science dissemination at the same time as helping to highlight your subject and research. By blogging, you also provide people with real facts and safe information. You can contact the blog editorial team about writing blog posts at medisinbloggen@medisin.uio.no.

The readership of the blog is steadily increasing and has an important channel for our research dissemination. The media often pick up the stories from the blog and ask to republish them or write new stories based on the post in dialogue with the blogger.
