Nursing science at UiO is ranked 47th in this year’s Shanghai Ranking

Nursing Science at the Institute of Health and Society at the University of Oslo is ranked number 47 in this year’s Shanghai Ranking – 2022 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. 

Ragnhild Hellesø, professor and head at the Department of Nursing Science, believes the high ranking is a result of long-term, important and socially relevant research and an active and creative research environment at the department, national and international research projects and collaboration, and educational programmes that meet expertise requirements in society.   • Read about all the important application deadlines for research funding in Funding opportunities.
  • Award announcements: Keep up-to-date with the annual cycle for award announcements, which is updated on an ongoing basis.
    • The deadline for nominations for the 2022 Heart Research Award is 30 August.
  • The faculty has a MSCA postdoctoral fellowships initiative with an application deadline of 14 September. Application support material has been developed and interested academic supervisors and researchers can contact our research advisors at EEF for further information.
  • ERC Starting Grant: The European Research Council (ERC) will soon launch the 2023 Starting Grant call. Deadline 25 October 2023.

  • ERC Consolidator Grant: The European Research Council (ERC) has announced the deadline for the 2023 Consolidator Grant. Deadline 2 February 2023.

  • ERC Synergy Grant: The ERC Synergy Grant (SyG) is for 2 - 4 PIs and their teams bringing together complementary skills in order to jointly address ambitious research problems in any field of research. Deadline: 8 November 2022.

  • 1 September Open seminar: Complexity in Action. Professor Trish Greenhalgh will receive the Honorary Doctorate from the University of Oslo. She will participate in an Open Seminar at Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education (SHE) on Complexity in Action on 1 September 13.30-17.30.
  • 2 September Annual Festivities 2022. UiO’s Annual Festivities and birthday will be celebrated in the University’s Aula from 18:00 to 19:30. There will be an Annual Party Ceremony in the Aula, with the conferring of honorary doctorates, the presentation of prizes and the King’s Gold Medal, speeches by the rector, honorary doctors and the head of the Student Parliament, as well as musical performances.   • 2 September Honorary doctor lectures at MED in The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters between 12:00–14:30, Professor Trish Greenhalgh and Professor Carolyn Lam will be appointed as honorary doctors at UiO and will give lectures

The gene helps to repair brain damage caused by a lack of oxygen during birth, Norwegian researchers found.
