Professor Eivind Engebretsen is the head of SUSTAINIT, which has now been operational for just over a year. He says that the unit’s task is to contribute to research and education that promote sustainable health. The three centres at the unit - the Centre for Pandemic and One-Health Research, the Centre for Global Health and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education each contribute in their own way to the testing of new models for sustainable health through their areas of focus.

New management at the Centre for Pandemic and One-Health Research (P1H)

Berg og GrødelandJens Petter Berg led P1H through the start-up phase as interim manager. Gunnveig Grødeland is now taking over as the new manager. Berg will continue to support P1H, as well as the Centre for Global Health and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education (SHE), in his new role as Research and Development Manager for SUSTAINIT. Read more on the centre’s website.

Jan Terje Andersen and Torbjørn Omland have been elected as new members of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. The membership is recognition of their scientific work. Read the full article on the institute website in Norwegian.

Casado receives the Professor Kreyberg Awardpris til casado

Raquel Bartolomé Casado received the Professor Kreyberg Award for her research on the adaptive immune system of the intestine. This is the second award she has received for her doctoral work.

  • 30 May: UiO:Life Science invites you to mark the end of the funding period for  its second generation convergence environment. The leaders of the interdisciplinary research groups will present what they have achieved and exchange experiences about what it is like to be part of a convergence environment. Everyone is welcome! Those people who are considering applying for the convergence environment are especially encouraged to attend. Mingling and tapas. NB: Requires registration.
  • 24 June – 28 June: Course in Machine Learning for Epidemiologic and Health Policy Analysis. Adapting machine learning to Norwegian health data to enhance causal analyses of patient pathways and patients’outcome. Register by April 15.
