Social distancing is done for. Reading rooms and pubs can be filled up. Colleagues will again meet at work. As of 4 pm Saturday 25 September, the vast majority of national infection control measures will be removed.

The Department of Biosciences is involved in six projects funded by the Norwegian Research Council, where three of the projects are Young Researcher Talent (YRT).

Recently the new biotech company Tribune Therapeutics was established based on research conducted by Ole Jørgen Kaasbøll and Håvard Attramadal. Ole Jørgen Kaasbøll was admitted to UiO:Life Science’ innovation programme SPARK Norway in 2019 and will now assume the role of Chief Scientific Officer in the new company where Georg Vo Beiske, HealthCap has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Tribune Therapeutics aims to develop a treatment for fibrosis.

This spring, new members will be elected to the University of Oslo's board. A total of four employee representatives will have a very important influence on the strategy and direction of the University of Oslo over the next four years. You can meet them at a digital election meeting on 2 June.

CBA centre coordinator Lene Liebe Delsett has launched a new book this week. It is in Norwegian and called Brennmaneteffekten – Hvordan går det med den norske naturen? (ENG: The Jellyfish effect – Is the Norwegian nature doing well?), published by Spartacus.

UiO:Life Science does not offer its own courses or study programs in life sciences, but wants to contribute to providing the students with the best possible educational programs. Departments and faculties can now apply for support to develop interdisciplinary bachelor courses in life sciences. The application deadline is 1 April.

This year Viola Lobert, who teaches genetics and developmental biology at the Department of Biosciences, has made virtual lab tours of four model organism facilities to introduce her students to the wonders of development, but also to give them a taste of what it’s like to do experiments in a lab.
