All applications for external research funding have to be approved prior to submission. Notification of intended application is to be performed by filling in the IBV application form (nettskjema). Applications hosted by other institutions where IBV is a partner are subject to the same requirements.
Who can apply?
- All associate professors and professors at IBV are eligible to send applications.
- PhD-students, postdocs and researchers can send an application if they have the explicit support of an associate professor/professor and a section leader at IBV.
- Scientists with no current affiliation to IBV can apply if they have the explicit support of an associate professor/professor and the head of department at IBV.
What type of applications will be approved?
- Researcher-initiated project applications such as Researcher Project for Experienced Scientists and ERC from an associate professor/professor at IBV will generally be approved.
- Researcher-initiated project applications such as ground-breaking research (Researcher Project for Experienced Scientists, Researcher Project for Early Career Scientists, Three-year Researcher Project with International Mobility) (FRIPRO) and ERC from PhD-students, postdocs and researchers at IBV and scientists with no current affiliation to IBV will generally be approved provided they have support of an associate professor/professor at IBV and section leader and are in accordance with IBV strategic plan and prioritized fields.
- Other applications to the RCN will generally be approved subject to budget approval and prioritized fields.
- Applications for commissioned research will be approved provided they adhere to IBV budgeting rules and are within prioritized fields.
- Applications for expenditures only (i.e. no positions) will generally be approved.
- Applications to the Norwegian Cancer Society or other private research funders will generally be approved.
- Other applications that require substantial contribution from the department (including in kind contributions) are subject to approval by head of department at IBV on an individual basis.
