On December 19th dr. Javier Corral will present a guest lecture on "What nature tells us about antithrombin".

The seminar will discuss three recently published books which deal with challenging questions of identity and belonging, as well as terrorism.

ESOP seminar. Isaac Sorkin is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University. He will present a paper entitled "Bartik Instruments: What, When, Why and How" co-authored by Paul Goldsmith-Pinkham and Henry Swift.

Professor David Huron (Ohio State University) will lecture on "A Theory of Sadness: Melancholy, Grief, and Nostalgia".

UiO:Life Science is the co-organizer of a pitching competition for life science pre-startups and early phase startups in Helsinki  in December. The event is part of at the SLUSH side-event Y Science. A SPARK Norway team is among the finalists!

ESOP seminar. Annette Alstadsæter is a Professor at Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). She will present a paper entitled "Accounting for Business Income in Measuring Top Income Shares: Integrated Accrual Approach Using Individual and Firm Data from Norway" co-authored by Martin Jacob, Wojciech Kopczuk, and Kjetil Telle.

ESOP seminar. Kalina Manova is an Associate Professor at University College London. She will present a paper entitled "Productivity, (Mis)allocation and Trade" co-authored by Antoine Berthou, Jong Hyun Chung and Charlotte Sandoz.

Do Indian cities offer women greater control over public spaces?

Interdisciplinary research within the life sciences is in demand, and more and more funding bodies requires collaboration among researchers from different disciplines. However, many reserachers find it hard to create truly interdisciplinary project  which can create new areas of knowledge and new opportunities. In this panel conversation, the Sciences Studies Colloquium aims to promote a practical discussion on how to proceed if one wants to create good and truly interdisciplinary projects. We have invited four of the interdisciplinary projects that were selected to be Convergence Environments in the last call to tell about their process.

What does responsible research within the Life Sciences mean today, and how can the human and social sciences contribute in this discussion? The Science Studies Colloquium arranges a panel debate, open for everyone, aiming at discussing these questions.

Professor Hannah Landecker is visiting TIK on Tuesday the 30th of October, and she will be presenting the paper "The Food of our Food: Medicated Feed and the Industrialization of Metabolism".

ESOP seminar. Kjetil Bjorvatn is a Professor at NHH - Norwegian School of Economics. He will present a paper entitled "Women’s Economic Empowerment and Fertility: Long-Term Experimental Evidence from Tanzania"

Zenonas Norkus is visiting the the Science Studies Colloquium Series. Norkus is a professor at the Department of Sociology, Vilnius University (Lithuania). His current research project is about comparative historical sociology of modern restorations focusing on the restorations of/in the Baltic States.
