The Raquel Fernández Workshop is an annual event arranged by ESOP. Raquel Fernández is Professor of Economics at NYU and Adjunct Professor at ESOP.

The main focus of the workshop is on how behavioral models, in particular reference dependent preferences, can shed light on economic behavior and the role of public policy.

ESOP seminar. Jonas Hjort is Assistant Professor at Columbia University. He will present a paper entitled "Sources of Variation in State Effectiveness and Consequences for Policy Design".

The seminar has been cancelled due to personal circumstances. 

Department seminar. Yuliy Sannikov is Professor of Economics at Princeton University. He will present a paper entitled "Optimal asset management contracts with hidden savings", written jointly with Sebastian Di Tella.

Centre for the study of equality, social organization, and performance (ESOP) at the University of Oslo is organizing the 2016 Nordic Conference in Development Economics (NCDE16) to be held 13-14 June 2016.

On Tuesday 7 June ARENA's guest researcher Maximilian Conrad will assess the role and potential of the European Citizen's Initiative in the context of his newly published book Bridging the Gap?

ESOP seminar. Robert Schmidt is a Post-doctoral fellow at Humboldt- Universität zu Berlin. He will present a paper entitled "Full vs. limited commitment in electoral competition"

Torbjørn Gundersen, stipendiat ved Senter for profesjonsstudier ved HiOA, kommer til Forum for vitenskapsteori. Han leverer i 2017 avhandlingen "Epistemiske og sosiale verdier i styring av vitenskap: En case-studie av norske klimaforskeres profesjonelle forståelse av forholdet mellom vitenskap og politikk". Seminaret er åpent for alle.

Centre for the Study of Equality, Social Organization, and Performance (ESOP) at the University of Oslo is organizing the Nordic International Trade Seminars (NOITS) 17th Annual Workshop to be held 19-20 May 2016.

Hugh Raffles, professor of Anthropology at The New School for Social Research in New York, is visiting the Science Studies Colloquium Series. He will show a short film, followed by a conversation with John Law. John Law is Professor Emeritus at Open University UK; and fellow at Center for Advanced Study in Oslo, with the research group 'Arctic Domestication in the Era of the Anthropocene'.

The lecture is open for everyone.

ESOP seminar. Eliana La Ferrara is Professor at Bocconi University and a Professor II at the University of Oslo. She will present a paper entitled "News vs. novelas: Can entertainment media undermine dictatorships?" written jointly with A. Chong, C. Ferraz, F. Finan and L. Meloni.

ESOP seminar. Simon Alder is an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He will present a paper entitled "Chinese Roads in India: The Effect of Transport Infrastructure on Economic Development".

ESOP-seminar. Bernt Bratsberg is a senior research fellow at the Frisch Centre and a Professor II at the University of Oslo. He will talk about excess churning in integrated labor markets.

ESOP invites to a public lecture with professor Jeffrey Sachs from Columbia University. Sachs is a leading scholar in sustainable development and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University.

ESOP seminar. Paolo Piacquadio is Assistant Professor of Economics at UiO. He will present the paper "A Fairness Justification of Utilitarianism".
