Videos and pictures from the Nobel event on stem cells

We had a full house when Shinya Yamanaka, 2012 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, visited Oslo on September 6. He gave a lecture about a new era of medicine with induced pluripotent stem cells – iPS cells – and participated in a panel discussion on implications of stem cell therapy for patients and society. Watch the videos and see pictures from the events.

The Nobel event at UiO 6 September was a part of the Nobel Prize Inspiration Initiative (NPII), a global programme that brings Nobel Laureates to universities and research centres, to inspire and engage scientists at all stages of their careers, especially students and young scientists.

The Initiative is organised by Nobel Media, the company managing media rights for the Nobel Prize, in partnership with the global biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. The event in Oslo was hosted by UiO:Life Science – the largest interdisciplinary strategic initiative at UiO.
