A new call for convergence environments will be annonunced in the autumn

UiO:Life Science funds convergence environments - interdisciplinary research groups that work on major societal challenges within life science related to health, environment, and sustainability. A new application round will start in the autumn.

This will be the fourth round of funding for convergence environments for UiO:Life Science. Five to six research projects will be receive founding.

- We work continuously on evaluating the initiative, our goal is to ensure broad interdisciplinary involvement, and we welcome applicants from all faculties at the University of Oslo, says director Carl Henrik Gørbitz. 

The convergence environments will receive funding for PhD- and postdoctoral positions from UiO:Life Science in addition to operational funds.

Call will be announced in the autumn

The next call will be announced during the autumn of 2024. The application process will take place in 2024-2025, and the expected start of the fourth generation of convergence environments will be in 2026.

Previous application rounds

The first call came in 2016 and resulted in the establishment of six convergence environments. The second call was announced during the autumn of 2018, where eight new convergence environments received funding for the period of 2019-2023. In 2020, the third application round started, resulting in six convergence environments.
