Some of the Customizations We Perform
The functions mentioned below are only available on iOS/iPadOS. Currently, UiO-IT does not offer this type of functionality on Android devices.
Distribution of Specific Apps
Tablets can be delivered pre-configured with a set of apps that you want to be available, so the user does not have to use a personal ID to install them.
Custom Apps
Custom-developed apps at UiO for use within UiO can be made available through UiO's account on Google Play, AppStore, or UiO's own app distribution system. Contact mobil-app@usit.uio.no to check if your custom app meets the criteria for distribution through UiO.
Special Access
We can set up the tablet to display specific access or documents on the desktop.
Locking Down One or More Programs/Functions
USIT can remove one or more programs/apps so they are not visible on the screen. This can include AppStore, YouTube, Safari, Settings, or other applications that you do not want the user to have access to. If you only want one app visible, we can do that too.
Access to Shared Area
Through a special application, we can provide access to a shared area for the group or project.
Locking to a Specific Wireless Network (WiFi)
USIT can configure the tablet to only be on the Internet within a specific network. This ensures that the tablet is only used in the intended area (hospital, lab, campus, etc.).
Single-App Mode
USIT configures the tablet so that it only displays one app/program. This way, only this program is active on the screen at any time, and the user cannot press the Home button or see the desktop. This can be useful for, for example, an information desk or similar.
