Uninstall F-Secure from your home computer

From January 1st 2014 the University unfortunately no longer offers free antivirus software from F-Secure to UiO users' home computers. Before you install or activate other virus protection, you need to uninstall F-Secure.

To uninstall F-Secure:

1. Close all running programs. Open the Start menu, and select Control Panel.

 

 

2. Click Uninstall a program.

 

3. Select F-Secure Client Security – Web Traffic Scanning.

 

4. Click Uninstall.

 

5. Select F-Secure Client Security – Virus & Spy Protection.

 

6. Click Uninstall.

 

7. Select F-Secure Client Security.

 

8. Click Uninstall.

 

9. Click Yes when you are asked if you really want to uninstall.

 

10. Click Yes when you are asked Do you want to allow the program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?

 

11. Click Yes when you are asked if you want to restart the computer. The computer restarts without virus protection. It is now very important the you install or activate other virus protection.

  • For Windows 7, we recommend Microsoft Security Essentials
  • For Windows 8, we recommend Windows Defender
