Use your home area with Linux Ubuntu

The guide shows how to connect your home area with the file manager Nautilus in Ubuntu.

This guide is described based on Ubuntu 23.04 (Lunar Lobster) - for earlier versions the guide may differ somewhat.

In order to be able to connect your home area with SSHFS, you must earlier have opened an SSH connection on the server login.uio.no in Terminal.

Go to Files and select Other Locations.

In the Connect to Server field, enter ssh://usernavn@login.uio.no and press Connect.

You will first be asked to do two-factor authentication. With Microsoft Authenticator, you won't see a two-factor requirement notification, but a push notification is sent to Authenticator on your phone. Press Approve in the application.

Depending on whether you have set up an SSH key or not, a password window may appear. Enter your UiO password.

Then your home area will be connected and visible on the desktop.
