Recording sound

Recording lectures is an easy and effective way to get started with recording and podcasting.

About sound recording

UiO has no official sound recording service. Contact your local IT to borrow equipment or to get advice about buying equipment.

Rules and regulations

If you are going to record a lecture or other events at UiO, you have to read the rules and regulations for recording at UiO.

Editing

Some times you may need to edit sound recordings. Audacity is a simple and user friendly sound editing program which is available at UiO (Audacity for Windows). Audacity for Mac can be downloaded for free at audacityteam.org. You can also find guides and help for both Windows and Mac on this site.

Uploading

If you are a lecturerer and want to share the sound recording with your students, you can upload the file to the semester page and link it in the time table. We recommend using mp3. Read more about how to upload sound files in Vortex (in Norwegian). Remember to read the rules and regulations before uploading.
