Conditional offer of admission to master's degree programmes autumn 2024

6 August is the deadline for submitting documentation to meet the conditions for your offer of admission to a master’s degree programme. The conditions for your offer of admission might be to document a completed bachelor’s degree, a specific grade in one or more courses, documentation sent directly to us from your institution, or a combination of any of the above.

Below you will find details of how to document that you meet these conditions and what to do if you cannot provide documentation that you meet the conditions by the deadline.

Education from the University of Oslo (UiO)

Grades from UiO

We have access to all results from UiO. You do not need to upload a separate transcript of records.

Diploma from UiO

You do not need to upload your diploma from UiO. If you have not been notified by your faculty that your diploma will be issued automatically, you must order one manually

Education from Norwegian educational institutions where results are imported automatically

We can import results from other Norwegian institutions. Please note that this does not apply to BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo New University College (Bjørknes) or Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology (HLT).

Results that have been imported automatically can be found in your ‘External Results’ folder in Søknadsweb. If you cannot find all your results or your bachelor's degree there, you must submit documents yourself.

Documenting grades

If you can see all your results in Søknadsweb, you do not need to upload a transcript of records. If you need to document grades from courses taken as part of an exchange abroad, please see below.

Documenting grades from exchange studies

We do not have access to grades for courses taken during exchange studies. These courses will normally be listed without grades in your transcript. You must therefore submit an official transcript from the university where you conducted your exchange studies.

Documenting a completed bachelor’s degree

If you need to document a completed bachelor’s degree, submitting documentation of 180 ECTS or a passed bachelor’s thesis is not sufficient. We need to see confirmation of a completed degree. This will normally be registered separately in ‘External Results’ in Søknadsweb, and will include the title of the degree followed by 180 ECTS.

If you have been issued a diploma for completed degree from your institution, but cannot see your degree registered in UiO’s Søknadsweb, you must either upload your diploma or make sure that your institution registers the degree.

Documentation from the Diploma Registry (Vitnemålsportalen)

You cannot document your degree with documentation from the Diploma Registry unless your degree has been registered. If your degree has been registered, the name of the degree will be listed at the top of the document you download from the Registry. The Diploma Registry collects your results from the databases of the institutions to which it is connected, in the same manner as Søknadsweb. Therefore, you do not need to upload documentation from the Diploma Registry for institutions where we can import results directly.

Education from Norwegian educational institutions where results are not automatically imported

To document results from BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo New University College (Bjørknes) or Norwegian School of Leadership and Theology (HLT), which will not be visible in your ‘External results’ folder, you must upload documents in 'My documents' folder in Søknadsweb. If you have electronic documents, you must in addition make sure that we are able to verify them. Please follow the respective procedures below.

Documenting grades

You must upload your official transcript of records issued by the institution. The transcript must bear a physical stamp and signature or be digitally verifiable.

Please see below for information on how to document education from BI Norwegian Business School.

Documenting grades from exchange studies

We do not have access to grades for courses taken during exchange studies. These courses will normally be listed without grades in your transcript. You must therefore submit an official transcript from the university where you conducted your exchange studies. The transcript must bear a physical stamp and signature or be digitally verifiable.

If the institution has an online verification service, you must provide us with a verification link by 6 August. Please put masteropptak@admin.uio.no as the recipient of the link.

This applies e.g. to a number of British institutions which use GradIntel or Digitary.

Documenting a completed bachelor’s degree

You must upload the official diploma/degree certificate for your degree issued by your institution. Make sure to upload all pages of the document. Please note that a transcript of records alone is not sufficient to document of a completed degree. A diploma/degree certificate will normally state the title of your degree and the date it was completed.

Please see below how to document a degree completed at BI Norwegian Business School.

Documenting a degree completed at BI Norwegian Business School

If you have an electronic diploma/degree certificate from BI, you must make sure that we can verify it. Electronic certificates from BI are not valid unless you provide us with a verification link to BI's own verification portal Digital Certificate. You will have access to this portal via BI's student portal. Note that the Digital Certificate portal and the Diploma Registry/Vitnemålsportalen are not the same. With a document from or a link to Vitnemålsportalen it is possible to document course results from BI, but not that you have completed a degree at BI. To document a degree completed at BI, you must provide us with a verification link to BI’s verification portal Digital Certificate. You must put masteropptak@admin.uio.no as the recipient of the link, and 1 year as the validity period.

Education from other countries than Norway

Education from most countries must be documented by uploading both an official diploma/degree certificate and an official transcript of records, as well as the Diploma Supplement (remember to upload all pages of the documents). Please note that if your institution does not issue documents in English or Scandinavian languages, the documents must be translated by a certified translator into English or a Scandinavian language.

UiO’s documentation requirements for education from countries other than Norway varies depending on the country. You will find information on how to document education from different countries on the individual programme pages. Make sure to tick each country which you have education from, if there are more than one.

Verification links

If your institution has an online verification service, you must provide us with a verification link by 6 August. Please put  masteropptak@admin.uio.no as the recipient of the link.

Examples of institutions which use online verification services include BI Norwegian Business School, and a number of British institutions which use GradIntel or Digitary.

Documentation sent directly from the institutions

We require documentation from certain countries to be sent directly to us from the issuing institution. Please see the individual programme web pages for information on the documentation requirements for your country/countries.
