The Nansen East-West Dialogue Academy in collaboration with Nordisk institutt for Asiastudier invites you to register for a summer course at the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer:

Dear student,

We are now in the process of inviting students from East Asia and from the Nordic region for a unique summer course at the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer, from July 4 to 14 2017. Our aim is to address students from the East and the West who are interested in present world affairs, and who want to broaden their insight and understanding of these in preparation for an active social life as academics and thus experts in different fields of life.  

15 internationally recognized scholars who are also outstanding presenters will share their insights and knowledge on current global challenges, and take part in subsequent dialogues organized as roundtables, panel deb...

On Thursday 20 August from 12.15-15, there will be a Master's seminar/orientation meeting on the 12th floor of Niels Treschow's building (in the meeting room at the end of the corridor). The seminar will consist of an orientation meeting for new Master's students in Modern Japan, Chinese Society and Politics and East Asian Culture and History, as well as presentations of the members of the academic staff. After the meeting, there will be served lunch.

The seminar is compulsory for the new first-year students, but all Master students within East Asian studies are invited. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with your peers as well as the members of the academic and administrative staff.

An information meeting for 1st and 2nd year Master's students in East Asian studies will take place on Monday 19 August from 16:15-18:00 in the conference room on the 12th floor of Niels Treschow's building. The student advisers will provide you with important practical information concerning your studies and the Master's thesis, after which the professors within East Asian studies will introduce themselves and tell you a bit about their research interests and the areas in which they supervise. After the meeting, there will be pizza and soft drinks.
