Learning outcomes

The MTS aims at training students to work critically and methodically with both primary and secondary sources within the field of Tibetan studies. Primary sources may be either texts, works of art, or fieldwork data. During the first year of the MTS, students will be trained in analysing primary sources and secondary literature related to Tibetan studies. During the second year, the students will prepare a Master dissertation.

The MTS is interdisciplinary, and aims at training students to work independently with topics in Tibetan studies based on a critical reading of primary or secondary sources in Tibetan or other relevant languages and/or establishing their own primary data based on fieldwork in Tibetan societies.

The MTS aims at qualifying students for work in the cultural, educational and research sectors.
