• A broad understanding of what innovation is, its social and technological character, and the different forms that innovation can take
• Familiarity with different theoretical perspectives on innovation and methods for studying innovation processes
• An understanding of the role of innovation in societal change, and the social, economic and environmental impacts of innovation
• Knowledge about how innovation can be governed, and ability to acquire knowledge about existing systems for supporting and governing innovation

Skills

• Experience with one or more specific forms of innovation, such as entrepreneurship, social innovation or innovation for sustainability transitions
• Ability to analyze and evaluate cases of innovation processes using established theories and tools
• Ability to reflect on the social and normative dimensions of innovation, and to analyze innovation-related controversies
• Ability to present your work and your educational background to others, give and receive feedback, and cooperate across disciplinary boundaries

General competence

• An understanding of your own role and disciplinary background in relation to innovation
• Experience with problem-solving, project work and collaboration in interdisciplinary teams
• Experience with a diversity of methods for exploring, analyzing and presenting information and scholarly subject matter
