Summer Courses for UiO Students

 

Students at UiO's Bachelor's and Master's programs can apply for credit-bearing summer courses. All courses will start Monday, June 24 2024.

The courses give 10-15 credits (studiepoeng). See all summer courses.

The application deadline is March 1. Apply in Søknadsweb.

For current UiO program students there are no extra costs! (There is no semester fee in the summer semester.)

UiO students can apply for loans/ grants from Lånekassen.

Who can apply

  • All current Bachelor's and Master's program students at the University of Oslo are welcome to apply for summer courses at ISS.
  • Applicants to Master's courses must have completed a Bachelor's degree when applying.
  • Single course students, exchange students and PhD students must apply as any other applicants. See the general application procedure for visiting students and university students at other home universities than the University of Oslo.

The Fundamentals of Human Rights (ISSJF4712) is a 3-week course. International Community Health (ISSMF4206) is a 4-week course. The other courses are 6-week courses. Download summer course information (pdf)

Current UiO program students can apply for all ISS courses with the exception of Norwegian language courses (NORA).

How to apply

  1. Apply in Søknadsweb in the application period: January 2 - March 1.
  2. Prepare your Statement of Purpose. Your Statement of Purpose should be one page (max. 400 words). Tell us why the course is important to you, how it helps you fulfill future goals or how it relates to your current studies or employment. Briefly state your personal qualities that make you a good representative of the University of Oslo.

Terms and conditions

  • The general terms and conditions for ISS, including the attendance requirements, also apply to current UiO program students.
  • If you intend to use the summer course as a part of your degree, you yourself are responsible for making sure it will be accepted as part of your degree program and that the course does not overlap with other courses in your degree. Contact your institute/faculty to check this.
