Guidelines for recording lectures

ISV does not offer hybrid teaching

ISV does not offer hybrid education. Our teaching is, and should be, based on in-person presence in classrooms, study halls, and libraries. We have no desire for a hybrid approach to our teaching. We also do not want recorded lectures to replace attending lectures in person.

Recording of introductory courses

We do acknowledge that recordings of our major introductory courses (STV1010, STV1100-1400, STV1020) can be valuable for revision before exams for new student. Such recordings need to be captioned (EILINs førstelinje - Læringsnettverket EILIN (uio.no) to meet the requirements of universal design, so they cannot be expected to be available the same week as the lecture is given.

Exceptions for unforeseen events

Lectures on subjects other than the major introductory courses may exceptionally be recorded if a) this is recommended by the University of Oslo centrally (e.g., due to a new wave of infections), or b) the lecturer must cancel or reschedule a lecture at short notice (e.g., due to illness).

Digital learning resources

Although we do not wish for streaming or recording of lectures on other subjects, we are open to the development of different digital learning resources; such as short videos, quizzes, automated self-tests, podcasts, and other initiatives that complement, but do not replace lectures and seminars. Please contact the head of education to clarify resource usage and priorities.
