Birgit will present an overview over the case law of the CCPR, CAT and CERD on the matter of interpretation and assess it against the backdrop of the lex specialis thesis. She will focus on the rules of Art. 31 of the VCLT and on the margin of appreciation doctrine and present some preliminary conclusions on whether there really is a special human rights law on interpretation, and whether there should be one.
