Since December 2015, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)  have communicated an unprecedented number of cases against Norway in particular field. All cases - 39 in total - concern various special measures taken by Norwegian child welfare authorities ("barnevernet") pursuant to chapter 4 of the Child Welfare Act ("barnevernloven").
