Doctoral candidate Felicitas Mareike Mück at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is  defending the thesis "Novel integrative approaches to examine the authenticity and quality of herbal medicines with a focus on two Traditional Chinese Medicine formulae applied in women's healthcare" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Doctoral candidate Amalie Føreid Reinertsen at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis "Stereoselective Syntheses and Biological Evaluations of Novel Resolvins" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Doctoral candidate Fatima Tauqeer at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis "Perinatal Mental Health and Migraine: Exploring the Complexities of Drug Utilization and Treatment Decision-Making" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Eeva-Leena Kataja, Senior researcher at the Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Turku, Finaland, will give a lecture titled: Early-life stress and the development of brain, behaviour, and health - Exploring the mechanisms in the FinnBrain Birth Cohort Study.

To feed a growing population we need more sustainable food production, and we need to utilize existing resources better. This requires a transformation of the food system and the development of novel technologies and sources for food. How will this impact what we eat in the future?

Doctoral candidate Maria Schüller at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is  defending the thesis "Microextraction fundamentals and forensic applications" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Doctoral candidate Hasan Cagin Lenk at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is  defending the thesis "Pharmacogenetics and metabolism of antipsychotic drugs in patients with resistant schizophrenia" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Doctoral candidate Markus Herberg Hovd at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis "Clinical pharmacometrics with diagnostic probes. Non-parametric techniques in pharmacokinetic studies" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Doctoral candidate Hussain Shakeel Butt at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is  defending the thesis "Characterization of novel polysaccharides and polyphenols in selected Nordic medicinal plants identified through historical sources" for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.
