Resultater fra FIGI-prosjektet 2014-18

FIGI-prosjektet er et samarbeid mellom Institutt for Informatikk (UiO) og Helse Sør-Øst. Det har utforsket samspillet mellom tungvekts- og lettvekts-IT, fra et praktisk og teoretisk perspektiv. Det mest vellykkede eksempelet er Sykehuset på Kalnes i Østfold, som nylig er klassifisert på nivå 6 i HIMMS.

The winter school, which takes place in Oslo from 22.-26. January 2018 and which is supported by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education in connection with a Norwegian-Ukrainian cooperation in mathematical education, brings together students and researchers from Ukraine (National Technical University of Ukraine, "Igor Sikorski Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Vasyl' Stus Donetsk National University, Vinnitsa and Uzhgorod National University, Uzhgorod) and Norway (University of Oslo).

The talks and mini-courses given at the winter school, which is attended by 40 invited participants, pertain to topics in stochastic analysis, probability theory and related fields.

Further, presentations are also devoted to the issue of training and preparation of students for mathematical olympiads and other international competitions in mathematics.

The Research Council of Norway is organizing a conference about political changes in Europe, and how these affect Norway. Leading researchers, several from ARENA, will present first hand insight into the latest research on these areas.

GLOBUS researchers will chair the section The European Union: Promoting or obstructing global justice at the EISA conference on International Relations in Barcelona, September 2017.

Jarle Trondal and Morten Egeberg will chair a panel at the 2017 ECPR General Conference in Oslo. 

Lecture "A new era of medicine with induced pluripotent stem cells – iPS cells" and panel discussion "Implications of Stem Cell Therapy for Patients and Society" with Shinya Yamanaka, 2012 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine. 

ARENA is strongly represented at the ECPR General Conference 2017 in Oslo. Our researchers will participate in around 20 different panels and sections.  

On the occasion of Professor Sylvia Richardson, University of Cambridge, receiving a Honorary Doctorate from the University of Oslo, we arrange a workshop in her honour. Please join us in the celebration of Sylvia and the statistics community at the University of Oslo, with presentations of some of the ongoing statistical research in the life sciences at our university!

The Abel symposium 2017

On 4-6 July 2017, the second conference on the mathematics of energy markets will take place at the Wolfgang Pauli Institute (WPI) in Vienna, Austria. The conference is an activity within the thematic program "Mathematics for Risk in Finance and Energy" at the WPI. 

We welcome participants from academia and industry to take part in this event.  

A pre-conference intensive course will be organized on Monday July 3. The course leader will be Professor Almut Veraart, who will give a course on Ambit stochastics with applications to commodity markets. See here for more details on the intensive course.

The Department of Economics and BI (Norwegian Business School), are organizing a workshop on trade, growth and firm dynamics. The workshop is funded by the department's research project GLOBALPROD.

Vårkonferanse - Hvordan skal vi møte fremtiden?

It is 50 years since the first scientific articles about the lack of LCAT was published. The symposium will discuss the importance of what lecitihin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) means for the transport of cholesterol in the organism, and it will take place at the hospital where the hereditary disease LCAT deficiency was first discovered.

The symposium will be held 9th of May 2017 at University of Oslo in Helga Engs Hus, Auditorium 1, Blindern, 12.00-18.00 and is free of charge, but registration is mandatory.

Tittel for konferansen var: Forskning på psykisk helse og rus.

A conference celebrating the work of Ragni Piene on the occasion of her 70th birthday.

The symposium is a follow-up of four highly successful previous symposia, held 14-15 October 2008 in the Norwegian Academy in Oslo, 1-2 November 2010 in RSE in Edinburgh, 2013 Oslo and 2015 Edinburgh.  Topics of this year's symposium include: internal waves, waves and ice, freak waves and wave-structure interaction as well as related aspects of stratified and buoyancy-driven oceanic flows. 

The scope of the programme will reflect the ongoing wave research projects in Norway and Scotland individually and in collaboration and it will include a special session celebrating the 6oth birthday of John Grue, the co-Director of the DNVA-RSE Waves symposia since their inception.

The 17th Danish-Norwegian workshop in Operator algebras will take place at Lysebu (Oslo), January 5 - 8, 2017, with support from the Foundation for Danish-Norwegian Cooperation. It will start with lunch on Thursday, January 5, and end after breakfast on Sunday, January 8.

One day of the workshop will be devoted to commemorate our dear colleague and friend, Ola Bratteli, who passed away in 2015 and would have turned 70 in October 2016.  Ola’s nearest collaborators over the years (George Elliott, David Evans, Akitaka Kishimoto, Palle Jorgensen and Derek Robinson) will then give talks reflecting the great impact of Ola’s work within several topics (e.g. AF-algebras, derivations, C*-dynamical systems, mathematical physics, wavelets).

Participation is possible only by personal invitation from the organizing committee. 

The programme will be made available around the beginning of December.

Høstkonferanse om forholdet mellom forskning og statsforvaltning.

The statistics groups at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences invite all PhD-students and postdocs within statistics in the Oslo-region as well as their teachers and supervisors to a  2-days workshop.

By participating in this intensive course, you will learn about recent developments in the modelling of the random dynamics of forward and futures prices in energy (and commodity) markets. A general theoretical framework for stochastic processes with values in function space is developed, and applied to the particular situation of forward price modelling, yielding a class of space-time random fields.

The course requires a knowledge in stochastic analysis.

The conference is part of a joint French-Norwegian conference series on curves and surfaces. In Norway previous meetings were held in Oslo 1988, Biri 1991, Ulvik 1994, Lillehammer 1997, Oslo 2000, Tromsø 2004, Tønsberg 2008, and Oslo 2012. In France the last meeting was in Paris 2014.

We invite you to a one-day workshop celebrating Professor Bent Natvig's 70th anniversary. Invited speakers will present recent developments in some of the areas where Bent has made significant contributions, including reliability theory and mathematical statistics.

Bent Natvig has, since 1986, been a professor of mathematical statistics at the Department of Mathematics. He is the author of a long list of important papers published in top-ranked scientific journals as well as the recent book entitled "Multistate Systems Reliability Theory with Applications" (John Wiley & Sons). At our department, Bent has taken the leading role in the area of reliability theory. On August 1 this year, he turns 70.

Andrew Collins has been a staff scientist at the Department of Nutrition since 2002 and is a leading international expert on nutrition and DNA damage.

In honour of Professor Collins’ 70th birthday, we invite you to an international symposium with a wide range of topics that touch on Prof. Collin's areas of scientific interest.

Welcome to the SECOND conference on Stochastics of Environmental and Financial Economics. The conference will bring together leading researchers in the fields of stochastic analysis and finance to discuss recent developments and challenges with an edge towards energy, environmental and financial markets.

The conference is also a celebration of professor Bernt Øksendal's 70th anniversary. On Thursday April 23 the program of the conference will mark this big event with a selected list of speakers.
