For the students of HIN1120: The newspaper article which we will read next Wednesday has been uploaded into Fronter-Tutorial. It has the title "In memory of a great Dalit leader." The article is fairly long, so prepare as much as you can.

There will be screenings of Deepa Mehta's film "Water" at Gimle Kino on Thursday 8.march at 13.00 and 20.30.

IMDb: "The film examines the plight of a group of widows forced into poverty at a temple in the holy city of Varanasi. It focuses on a relationship between one of the widows, who wants to escape the social restrictions imposed on widows, and a man who is from a lower caste and a follower of Mahatma Gandhi."

The Nordic Centre in India is organising three summer courses in 2007.

'Contemporary India' will be held in Hyderabad (University of Hyderabad) 1-28 July

'Approaching the Environment' will be held in Bangalore (ISEC) 23 July-23 August

'Demography, Gender and Reproductive Health' will be held in Mumbai (IIPS) 8 July-4 August

The deadline for applications is 1 April 2007. Each member university can nominate 3 candidates and 3 reserves on each course.
