THE CULTURAL HISTORY OF LAUGHTER IN CHINA: FROM ANECDOTE TO JOKE TO CARICATURE
This course will present examples from the tradition of Chinese humorous philosophical anecdotes, the rich history of Chinese jest-books, and a brief introduction to the history of caricature in China. All material will be presented in translation, but interpreted with reference to the Chinese original texts.
