Hi,

For your presentation on the oral exam there is no need for powerpoint, but you are welcome to bring your notes for the presentation. Your presentation will take 10 minutes, and will be followed by a conversation with me on other parts of the course literature.

Good luck!

Best,

Hans Kristian

NOR1403: Oral Exam

The exam will be 15-20 minutes long and begin with a micro presentation of 10 minutes.

For your presentation, please choose one literary text/authorship from the syllabus; a different one from the one you wrote your mid-term paper on. Discuss and interpret it with a focus on concepts of world literature, and if relevant, impact. Make use of the secondary literature from the syllabus, and, optionally, your own research. Be concise and focus on one aspect or question; no need to provide many facts.

The rest of the exam will be a discussion about the remaining syllabus.

Good luck!

Hans Kristian

I have promised you to specify which short stories from Askildsen’s book Selected Stories we will read during the course. Here it is: “The Dogs of Thessaloniki”, “A Lovely Spot”, “My Sister’s Face” and “Everything Like Before” Enjoy!

One more thing: On Monday 9 October we will start with some reflections on Knausgaard’s Munch exhibition, and then proceed with the novel Shyness and Dignity by Dag Solstad.

See you there!

This course has an oral exam in week no. 50 (11-15 December). All students who have other exams the same week, should notify the study adviser by e-mail (nina.kulsrud@iln.uio.no') by 15 October, so that we can make a collision free plan. These e-mails will not be answered. The plan for the oral exam will be made public approxomately two weeks in advance.
