A NOTE pertaining to next semester: I will be offering my course NORAM 4502: The Liberal Political Tradition in America, for the very last time in the spring term of 2009.
13.08.2008: Welcome to this course! I want all students to bring along Compendium No. 1 ("American Society and the Law: Documents") to our first meeting on August 19, and I ask that prior to our meeting they read pages 1-7 (The Mayflower Compact, The The Maryland Toleration Act, and the Declaration of Independence). We want a flying start, because there is quite a bit of reading for this course, and we will discuss aspects of those documents during our very first meeting.
