Submission deadline: 11 May by 11:00
The group assignment must be submitted in Fronter by 11 May at 11:00. The Fronter room closes promptly and automatically, so we recommend that you submit ahead of the deadline.
Before you submit your assignment, make sure that you have read and understood the University's information about cheating and use of sources and citations.
We strongly recommend that you read this well ahead of the deadline, so that you may ensure that your submission meets the University's standards.
Your submission MUST list the candidate number for each student that contributed to the group assignment on the front page. Do not include your names anywhere on the assignment....
I have updated and changed the outline for tomorrow's lecture. Here is the plan:
12.15-13.00: Progress reports from the groups. Discussion of report format.
13.15-14.00: Streaming media as an innovation. A brief history, from Napster through YouTube to Spotify and Netflix. Then a discussion: If we view Netflix and other streaming services in the light of innovation theory, what can we learn? How much is technology, and how much is "social" aspects?
14.15-15.00: Streaming technology. We will look at the technology stack for streaming media, and analyse them according to Müller's platform-genre model.
15.15-16.00: Algorithms and recommender systems.
Three kinds of recommender systems: Item-based recommendation, collaborative filtering, network and other vector systems. We will look at how Netflix' recommendations have changed, and at Facebook's PageRank. We will then play a little with Amazon's and YouTube's recommendations using digit...
Dear all,
Anders will do the lecture on algorithms and streaming media on the 6th of April. This is the lecture that was planned on 23rd of February, but that was cancelled due to illness.

Sorry to inform you that Anders Fagerjord's lecture today needs to be postponed due to a migraine attack. He will let you know when the postponed lecture will take place when he's feeling better.
We will however still meet today at 12.15 for your group-presentations and feedback.
