Welcome to MUS4311, fall 2023

Welcome to this year’s course in Music and Cultural Studies, MUS4311. The course seeks to work across disciplines, such as Popular Music Studies, Music Sociology, Music Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Sound Studies etc., and ask what is the relationship between music and culture? What does it mean to listen to music? And, how do we understand culture as well as music in this context? This includes a look at key concepts as well as basics in this field of study.
