Corrections to the document describing the assignment due 17 December:

In the document 'Information about the assignment' (see opposite page under the heading 'The assignment'), the following has by a mistake been left out from the document:

"(4) Main text (body) This is the paragraph where you develop the arguments".

The document has now been updated with correct information.

Assignment due 17 December

Please find information about the assignment (how to structure the assignemnet, etc.) on opposite page.

The deadline for submitting the assignment is 17 December, 2009. If you want to deliver your thesis at an earlier stage, or you want to hand it in via e-mail, you should send it to: b.l.kraabol@jus.uio.no. We appreciate if you could insert in the subject line to this e-mail the following (written in capital letters): EXAM HUMR5503.

Your candidate number will appear in Studentweb from 3 December.

Any students that have sent their 3-page paper proposal to Richard Hustad, can pick up their paper with comments at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, Room 344 (Richard's office). Remaining papers will be brought to the next class for distribution.

Seminar August 28

Professor Mads Andenæs introduces legal method and the relationship between Norwegian domestic law and European and international law. The outline for the seminar is linked under 'Course outline' (on left side).

Target group: Students with no spesific legal background, but the seminar is open to all.

Exam information: The exam will consist of a paper due 17 December 2009, and should not exceed 15 pages. See http://www.uio.no/studier/emner/jus/humanrights/HUMR5503/ for further details (scroll down to 'Exam information').

Please note that a draft must be handed in before 26 October 2009. The draft should not contain more than 3 pages. The draft is mandatory for all students.

On 21 September Martin Scheinin, Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Counter-Terrorism, will give a guest lecture.

  • Time: 10:00 (sharp) to 12:00
  • Venue: Norwegian Centre for Human Rights, Cort Adelers gate 30, Ground-floor auditorium

The topic will be economic, social and cultural rights and counter-terrorism, as well as contemporary issues of importance.
