Postponed hand-out of mock exam papers

There has been a misunderstanding. The mock papers are corrected, but will not be handed out today. They will be handed out tomorrow 26 November at 10am during the lecture Morten Kjelland will give on the mock exam paper. Sorry for any inconveniences.

If you can't meet at the lecture you can later come and pick-up the papers at the Maritime Law department,4th floor St. Olavs gate 23.

The examination candidates must be present at 08.30 (90 minutes prior to the time the examination is scheduled to begin) so that the students auxiliary material can be inspected for notes.

Benytter du store lesesal og bokskap i St. Olavs gt. 23? Husk at det er stengt for eksamen fra 17.11. tom 11.12. Tilgangen i adgangskortene fjernes i denne perioden, og du må derfor snarest hente bøkene dine i bokskapet dersom du trenger disse. Dette er kun mulig 17. og 19.11. mellom kl. 09-16."

Please note that the course Maritime Law (course code JUR5401/JUR1401) and the Norwegian version of the Maritime Law course “Sjørett” (course code JUR5400/JUR1400 have different lists for Auxiliary materials.

Students who are registered for the English course code can only use materials from English list

Students who are registered for the Norwegian course code can only use materials from the Norwegian list

Note that all students who are registered for the English code can only use materials in published English version. Note also that printouts from database/internet are not permitted, this accounts for all courses.

Mock exam

The assignment is available at this website from about 10AM. Look under the headline "Mock exam" to the left on this page.

The deadline to deliver the paper is 4pm (so you have in reality 6 h).

If you want the experience to be as similar to the real exam as possible, you should try to write the exam within four hours. (The results will then give you a more precise indication on how you would do on the actual exam.)

It is up to you to decide if you want to cooperate with other students or what material you will use to solve the questions. If you want it to be similar the exam situation, only use the auxiliary material allowed at exams.

IMPORTANT! THE EXAM IS TO BE SUBMITTED ON PAPER! We do not accept hand-ins on e-mail unless due to illness or other good excuses.

Semester papers are ready

The semester papers are ready to be picked up. They have been given comments and graded. The paper can be picked up at the at the Maritime Law department, at H.Heussche's office on the 4th floor of St. Olav’s gate 23, 10am - 3pm almost every day. Together with your paper you will be given a written example on how to solve the exercises.

Note! 4 November and 6 November the Maritime Law Department is attending seminars. If we are not here, you may pick up your papers at the maritime law library, also situated at St.Olavs gate 23, 4th floor.

Mid-term paper

It is time for this semester's mid-term paper. The assignment is available at this website under the headline "course material" from about 10AM on 5 October.

The paper is to be handed in 19 October at 15.00 the latest, at the Maritime Law Department in St. Olavs gt. 23, 4th floor. Ask for Henrik.

Semester start at NIFS

Thursday 27 August we celebrate the start of the semester at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law.

All students who are taking the course in Maritime Law autumn 2009 are invited to the Institute’s Petroleum department in Domus Media, east wing, 1st floor at 15.30 for pizza, beer and mineral water. This is a nice chance to meet other students and the Institute’s researchers, professors and other personnel.
