Undervisningsmateriale
The course includes some of the basic subjects and methods in classical theoretical physics. It is divided in three main parts. Part I: Analytical mechanics, with the formulations of Lagrange and Hamilton. Part II: Relativity, with the four-vector formalism applied to relativistic kinematics and dynamics. Part II: Classical electrodynamics, with methods for finding solutions of Maxwells equations, with a special focus on electromagnetic radiation.
The following subjects are included in the course:
The lectures will normally be held on Monday 14:15-16:00 and Thursday 10:15-12:00, and the exercise class on Thursday 14:15-16:00.
The first lecture will be held on January 19, and the first exercise class on January 29
There will be weekly sets of exercises available on the course page. Two of these will be compulsory homework assignments.
The Midterm Exam will be a one week’s homework assignment. It is scheduled for the period March 13-20.
