Chapter 5 of the printed lecture notes (Quantum mechanics and geometry) has not been lectured this semester, and problems from this chapter will therefore not be included in the final exam.

Since the lectures and all the material in the course have been given in English this semester, also the problem set at the final exam will be given in English. Solutions may be written in Norwegian or English depending on your own preference.

Please return written/printed solutions to Ekspedisjonskontoret before office closing time on October 24.

There is no teaching the corresponding week, on Tuesday 21., Thursday 23. and Friday 24.

Note: Tuesday, September 30 there are exercises at 10.15 (moved from Friday) in addition to lectures at 12.15.

Note some corrections in Problems 5.2 and 4.3. For the charge we have the replacement e/c -> e. (There is a change in the electromagnetic units used this year compared to last year.)

The final exam will be a written exam. The date for the exam is December 4. (See Eksamen og vurderingsformer - Tid og sted.)

The midterm exam is scheduled for week 43. This is a one week's home exam in the period Friday October 17 to Friday October 24.

This week there are lectures on Tuesday and Thursday, but no teaching on Friday, August 22. The periods on Fridays will be used for exercises, beginning next week.

Det vil være 4 timer forelesninger og 2 timer oppgavegjennomgåelse pr. uke. Forelesningene vil normalt foregå i tirsdags og torsdagstimene, oppgavegjennomgåelsen i fredagstimene.

Forelesningsnotater er utarbeidet for kurset og benyttes som pensumlitteratur. Se fjorårets kursside for pdf-fil med forelesningsnotater, en noe oppdatert utgave vil foreligge ved semesterstart. Som tilleggslitteratur anbefales Michel Le Bellac: Quantum physics, Cambridge University Press 2006.
