The presentations will happen on Zoom on Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully you all are figuring out ways to do this remotely! Here is a tentative schedule. A few people have already contacted me about preferred times, but let me know if you'd like a different time than shown. Note I've set a half hour for everyone, so plan on a 25 minute talk, with 5 minutes for questions.

Hello! Just to reiterate, I'll have the lectures on Monday from 9:15 to 12:00 on Zoom. I've got 9 email address now (Astrid, Jan-Adrian, Morten, Sofie, Britta, Astrid, Nikki, Alexandre and Katarina). If you haven't sent yours and want to attend, don't forget to do that.
OK, I think I've worked out how to give lectures from home. So we can try to have the second week of lectures. It's certainly not perfect, but it should work.
If you all send me your email addresses, I can invite you to a Zoom session on Monday (30/3). My address is josepl@uio.no
I will go through the lecture we missed last Friday on the first day, and then continue on after that. I'm inclined to postpone the presentations, but let's discuss that on Monday.
We can go ahead an think about the presentations anyway. The criteria are 1) that the topic is relevant for turbulence and 2) that it's relevant for your own research. If you need guidance, contact me and I can suggest something.
The easiest is if you can find a good review article -- then you can focus on that. More niche subjects may not have one though, in which case you can find 3-5 articles to read. In the past, some students have even done some calculations (like examining energy spectra in an atmospheric model). Again, contact me if you're in doubt.
I'll compile a list of presentations and keep that on the website. Then eventually we'll figure out when to have them!
Hi All --
So classes are cancelled until further notice. I was planning on going through sections 7.7 and 7.8 today -- take a look at those and do the problem at the end of 7.7. If you're like, you can take a look at section 7.6 too -- that's optional, but very interesting!
The next lectures are scheduled for week 14. I don't know yet what will happen with those, but I'll update the website when I know more.
It looks like we don't have any conflicts with moving the class to 9-12 on Wednesdays too, so let's do that.
Homework tonight -- look at the exercises in the statistics and Fourier transform sections.
I reserved one of the meeting rooms at Ullevål (Sognsveien 77b) for the lecture tomorrow morning. If you're coming for the first time, we're on the second floor -- just follow the signs to Institutt for Geofag, and ring at the door.
The second week of lecture (week 17) has unfortunately been moved to week 14 (30 March - 3 Apr) due to unforeseen events.
