Instructions for the first lesson

Hi all,

Welcome - I am very much looking forward to meeting you!

The course is jointly taught at BI and UiO. The first lesson will be starting at 0815, Monday August 19., at the Caml seminar room at the Institute for Informatics, UiO. This is on the third floor in the Ole Johan Dahl building, which is the large black glass building you will see north of the Forskningsparken tube station. The layout of this building can be a bit confusing (the classrooms are named after programming languages, in no apparent order), so it might be a good idea to show up early.

The first session will be an introduction to the course, a short lecture on technology evolution, and short case discussion (based on the Catatech case, just to get you warmed up. I normally start my courses full speed from the beginning, but in this case it is not yet clear how many UiO students will be there (at least 25, but probably more, as the course is required, but also an elective. There are quite a lot of students signed up for the course, since it is also an elective for the 2nd year M.Sc. students at BI.

We have a really interesting course lined up, some exciting guest lecturers, as well as a company visit to a really innovative organization, so I trust you will have a good time and a really intensive learning experience - more to come!

Cheers,

Espen
