As a reminder, and as already mentioned in a previous message, the final oral exam of IN5600 will take place on June 1st (Tuesday), with the external censor being Prof. Eric Jul.
Please, be on time (see a previous message with the exact timing).
Also note that, as already been said, the first part of the oral exam will be about the Project; the second part (questions about the theoretical part) will be done individually. The classification of each student is given individually.
The oral exam will be done via Zoom (it will be used the same link as the one used for the lectures). It is advised that students get into Zoom a bit sooner that the scheduled timing; then, students will be kept in a waiting room for a while.

Just to tell you that there will be lectures on the days 4 May (today), 11 May and 18 May. The issues that will be addressed are rather relevant. The lectures will made available (recorded) as usual in this web site.
In particular, for the lecture in May 4, there are two videos available: 1) a short one regarding the final part of "cyberforaging", and 2) a longer one regarding the initial part of "replication".

As you all know, the deadline for the Group Project Submission is 28 April at 17h. Thus, today (Tuesday, 27 April) there will be no lecture. Enjoy the extra free time to finish the Project.

Dear Students,
In addition to the hints I told you about regarding "how to make a presentation" in the beginning of the semester, please take the following into account when giving a talk (as scheduled) concerning the paper you will be presenting:
- do not forget to say where the talk is taking place; in this case, at UiO
- try not to read any notes/slides/etc. while presenting; your talk should be (or at least, seem to be) a talk; note that this does not mean that you should not rehearse!
- try to write your slides without misspelling any word
- remember that using a figure may be much more enlightning than just text
- try to have a natural flow when going from one slide to another; just saying the title of a slide (X, Y, Z, etc.) is not a good approach
- try not to have full and long sentences in the slides

Dear students,
The individual project files (the server file and the project introduction) are available in lab classes folder.
Students should upload their project code (a zip file containing the whole project) in the "devilry" by the specified deadline and show their code is working in the next lab class (on 24th of February).

In the section called "Questions" you can find several files each one containing a set of questions regarding the topics addressed in the course IN5600/PUT.
As you probably notice, the files include the topics that were discussed so far. The remaining topics will be made available as soon as the corresponding issues are addressed in the lectures.
In the oral exam the questions that will be asked, will be strongly related to those in the files above (randomly chosen).
Obviously, if you have any question that you may want to discuss, please send me an email or try to get me on a Zoom call. Naturally, before doing that, I suggest you study the issues addressed in the lectures (e.g., by reading the corresponding slides).

According to the last directive related to the COVID 19 pandemic, the next classes (both lecture and lab) on the 19th and 20th of January, will be digital.
