MJPEG Encoding Performance Competition
Your task in this voluntary competition is simple! Encode the forman and tractor test sequences to MJPEG as fast as possible!
The winners will recive an official diploma, the esteem of their peers, and of course a nice prize.
There are however some guidelines you must follow:
1. At most two students, attending the course, per submission.
2. The submissions have to be delivered no later then the 19th of November at 23:59:59.99 to haavares@simula.no
3. There will be two individual competitions, one for Cell and one for GPU.
4. You are allowed to improve your implementation from the graded assignment, but a list of changes have to be annotated.
5. Each submission will be run three times on both foreman and tractor, and the total running time of the fastest iterations will count as your score.
6. The encoded videos must not deviate significantly from videos encoded by the reference implementation. i.e you may not change the quantization parameters, as this will impact both picture quality and file size.
The winners will be announced during the lecture on the 21st of November.
