Welcome to MAT4200 - Commutative Algebra!

We will follow Atiyah & Macdonald's Introduction to Commutative Algebra, and the preliminary plan is that we do chapters 1-9 & parts of chapter 11. A plan for what we will do in each lecture can be found under "Schedule" on this page.

The book we follow is quite terse, and for more leisurely explanations of theorems and definitions it can be worth consulting Geir Ellingsrud's notes, which are freely available here.

There is one mandatory written assignment in the course, which will be posted no later than 28 Sep, and which will have a submission deadline of 12 Oct.
