Starting the course

We start the course Wed Aug 20. You should get hold of a copy of the course book "Statistical Inference" (2002, 2nd ed.), Casella and Berger, either via Akademika or Amazon. The usual set-up will be two hours lectures plus one hour exercises, though I intend to be somewhat flexible regarding this. Also, there are no exercises for this first day of the course, which means three hours of lectures for Aug 20.

The precise curriculum will be determined later, but I predict a reasonably high correlation with that of Autumn 2013, where the curriculum was taken from Chs 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Glance through Chs 1 and 2 too, though the material there essentially would be known to you. For Wed Aug 20 intend to give a general introduction and overview for the course, before staring with bits & pieces from Ch 3. If time allows I'll also start gently with a bit from Ch 5.

The system still insists on having the previous year's course leader listed as teacher for 2014 too, despite half a dozen attempts at having this corrected. The "schedule" part does list the correct name, however.
