welcome to stk 4180 / 9180!

Welcome to this entirely new course, where the main theme is that of *confidence distributions*. Lectures will take place Mondays 9-12, in room 735, 7th floor Abel Building. The first day of the course is Monday January 18. It is meant to be for both master and PhD students, in the variations stk 4180 and stk 9180 (with the PhD students having something extra for their exam in June).

The course curriculum will in essence be taken from the book "Confidence, Likelihood, Probability" by Tore Schweder and Nils Lid Hjort (Cambridge University Press, 2016). It is reportedly being sent to the printers in January 2016, and I do not know how quickly the book will actually exist. We are told to be very careful with pdf files, so I might choose to *print out certain chapters* for the first two months of the course. There will also be a convenient *CLP website* for the book, with datasets and so on.

I will also produce certain *lecture notes and exercises* as we go along, and place these at this course website, along with a few R codes for some of the exercises. We will of course coming back to such and other practical matters when we start the course.
