Curriculum

Chap. 1: Section 1.3.2, 1.10 and 1.11 are additional reading material, and the rest is core material.

Chap. 2: Section 2.4 is additional reading material, and the rest is core material.

Chap. 3: Section 3.2.6, 3.2.7, 3.6, 3.12 and 3.13 are additional reading material, while section 3.1 and 3.2 (except 3.2.6 and 3.2.7) is the core material. The rest of Chapter 3 is not a part of the curriculum.

Chap. 4: Section 4.12 is not a part of the curriculum, section 4.4, 4.5 and 4.9 are additional reading material, and the rest of chapter 4 is core material.

Chap. 5: Section 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.5 and 5.6 is the core material. From Section 5.4, the methods called 'constant average acceleration' and 'linear acceleration' as presented in the lectures are core material, while the rest of 5.4 is additional reading material. The pages 184-187 (including figure 5.7.3) is additional reading material, and the rest of section 5.7 is not a part of the curriculum.

Chap. 8: Section 8.3.5 is not a part of the curriculum, while the rest of chapter 8 is the core material.

Chap. 9: Section 9.1-9.3 is core material, 9.10 and 9.11 is additional reading material and the rest of Chapter 9 is not a part of the curriculum.

Chap. 10: Section 10.9 and 10.10 are not part of the curriculum, 10.13, 10.14 and 10.15 are additional reading material, and the rest of the chapter is the core material.

Chap. 11: The definition of Rayleigh damping on page 456 and 457 is additional reading material, and the rest of chapter 11 is not a part of the curriculum.

Chap. 16: Section 16.6 and 16.7 are not part of the curriculum, 16.8 and 16.3.3 are additional reading material, while 16.1, 16.2, rest of the 16.3, 16.4 and 16.5 is core material.

Chap. 17: Section 17.1-17.3 is the core material, and the rest of chapter 17 is not a part of the curriculum.

Exercises: All the mandatory exercises as well as the ordinary exercises are included in the curriculum.
