Course content

Inequalities in access to health care, combined with increases in the costs of health care, have fueled debates about social justice. This course explores different concepts of distributive justice in health and health care, and answers questions such as:

  • What makes health and health care special in the context of distribution?
  • Is inequality in access to health care, and inequality in health, a moral problem?
  • When is rationing fair?
  • Should we be held responsible for our health?

Learning outcome

This course aims at giving students up-to-date knowledge on a variety of issues of distributive justice within the health care context.

No obligatory prerequisites beyond the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway.

Explanations and appeals

Withdrawal from an examination

It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.

Evaluation

The course is subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students to participate in a more comprehensive evaluation.
