Course and Demonstrations
Tuition in Anatomy, Histology, Pathological Anatomy and Histopathology of the reproductive organs will include course overviews, demonstrations, demonstrations with macroscopic preparations and microscopy. The teaching will be in small groups and will primarily take place during the first half of the semester.
Anatomy with macroscopic preparations
Macroscopic anatomy will include demonstrations of preparations as an alternative to dissection. Preparations and models will also be available for independent study.
Histology
At the beginning of the week an initial overview of that week’s subjects is given to the entire class. At the end of the week the class is divided into two groups for practical microscopy with the instructor (questions, answers, video demonstrations).
Pathological Anatomy
Teaching in pathological anatomy will include:
- Female and Male genital systems
- Malformations and tumours in children
Teaching sessions will be held with groups of seven or eight students. The allotted time is approximately 1½ hours; this includes time for independent study (the teacher will provide a guideline of what to study, particularly for the final session). These courses take place over several weeks and will include a small selection of preparations.
Group 7 and 14 will have the practical teaching and learning sessions in microscopic and macroscopic pathology at Ahus, see the list in the timetavle. The teaching sessions will be held in Department of Pathology, B104.004 ("møterom)
Histopathology
Kits containing approximately 35 preparations will be distributed for use. These kits with preparations demonstrating pathological changes will be stored together with kits of normal histological preparations so that students can compare them to one another. We recommend you go through 5 preparations a week, preferably during weeks when these preparations are relevant to the concurrent clinical rotation. The time needed to go through an entire kit of 30-35 preparations is about 6 hrs. The teacher will go over all the preparations in plenary sessions with the class, approximately 5 preparations for each course (a total of 6 hours for all the overview sessions). The aim of this instruction is to coordinate a histological overview with the clinical topics being taught.
Also available for independent study in Pathology are:
- a study room in the library with six microscopes and corresponding histological preparation kits
- a multiple station microscope, whereby groups of up to 10 students can study the same section, located in room B2.1012 in the student Skills Centre (Ferdighetssenteret)
