DEVG342 – Self-selected theme
Course content
The student makes an individual reading list of 2000 pages related to the topic of his/her thesis. The supervisor must approve the list. In addition to this, the student prepares an application for funds to do fieldwork, including a project proposal.
Learning outcome
The objective of the course is to provide the students with a thorough theoretical and empirical base related to the topic of their thesis.
Admission
Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Students are expected to hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Geography.
Recommended previous knowledge
No prerequisites.
Teaching
There will be no lectures or seminars. The students will be given individual supervision.
Examination
There will be a take home exam (14 days). Each student is given a question related to his/her reading list.
- The reading list must be accepted by your supervisor by April 1st.
- The take home exam starts on May 15th. At 10am the questions will be handed out in the reception at the department. Answers must be submitted at the same place two weeks later.

Any take home exam or essay etc. handed in at the University of Oslo may be checked for plagiarism by use of the Ephorus text recognition software.
