CONT4503 – Intercontextual Theology (II) – Methodological Perspectives

Course content

Following and presupposing Intercontextual theology [I] this course will (alternately, depending on which other courses are offered in the same semester) focus on two of the following perspectives and themes which are prevalent in intercontextual theology:1. Theological gender studies 2. Interreligious studies 3. Peace and Conflictstudies 4. Globalisation studies.

Learning outcome

By completing this course, students will (a) have gained critical awareness of the significance and implications of the perspective in which theology is undertaken, and (b) have gained first hand knowledge of main tenets and tendencies in four fields of study (mentioned above) relevant to intercontextual theology, and (c) have obtained practical skills in applying the methods and insights of at least two of these fields of study .

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge

Bachelor degree with an aera of emphasis in theology or christian studies

Teaching

The course will extend through half a term with some teaching intensive periods, and periods set off for student preparation.

Examination

Term paper, approximately 1500-2000 words.

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.

Explanations and appeals

Resit an examination

Students who due to illness or other valid reason of absence were unable to sit for their final exams may apply for participation in make-up exams. Make-up exams are arranged either later in the same semester or early in the semester following the exam in question. Documentation of valid reasons for absence from the regular exam must be submitted upon application to participate in make-up exams.

Withdrawal from an examination

It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.
